Victory for Extra Help at 2023 BFA Awards
We are delighted to announce that Extra Help has won ‘Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year’ at the prestigious British Franchise Association Awards!
Last month, we told you that we’d been shortlisted as a finalist in the upcoming British Franchise Association Awards. This in itself was very exciting news for us, as even being shortlisted for a prestigious BFA award, such as the ‘Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year’, was a true testament to our managing director, Claire Robinson’s, passion, enthusiasm and continuous commitment to Extra Help.
We’d recently won a WorkBuzz 5-Star Franchisee Satisfaction Award and were looking forward to this being presented to us during the BFA Conference. This award is also incredibly important to us, as it’s awarded based on feedback that comes directly from our franchisees. However, we were extremely excited to be shortlisted as finalists for the BFA Awards too, as we know these awards are the most prestigious in the sector.
What are the BFA Awards?
These awards are designed to celebrate franchising excellence and are known as the ‘Oscars of the franchising industry’. They showcase and recognise the innovation, dedication and positive impact the franchising community makes on the business world. The awards are judged by a highly experienced, professional panel of experts from the franchise sector.
There are multiple stages for an entrant to pass. The first is a written entry which, if shortlisted, progresses the entrant to the next stage to deliver a private presentation to the panel to aid them in their judging. The panel can ask questions and this lasts for around 30 minutes - they really dig deep to ensure you know your business inside and out! Following this, the four finalists are selected and the winners are announced at a gala dinner after the British Franchise Association Conference.
The event was held on 9th November at the Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham. Hosted by Pip Wilkins, CEO of the BFA, and Gillian Morris, HSBC’s UK Head of Franchising, the event was attended by around 600 franchising professionals.
And the winner is……
Imagine our surprise and delight when it was announced that Extra Help had won the ‘Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year’ award. We’re so proud to win this award, which recognises and celebrates the incredible effort by Claire, along with her daughter, Sarah, to build a successful, national, home-help franchise network. Extra Help has experienced consistent growth since its founding in 2010 and currently has 33 franchisees in 35 territories.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have won the ‘Lifestyle Franchisor of the Year’ award. My BFA journey has been a very special one. Winning a BFA Award is the ultimate award in franchising. I feel very privileged to have been a finalist and am amazed to be the winner!"
Claire
What is franchising?
The BFA explains:
“Franchising is a business relationship between two parties. This comprises of the franchisor, who owns the brand and business system, and the franchisee, who via a franchise agreement is able to trade under the brand.
Franchisees will pay an initial fee at the start of the relationship. In return they will receive a comprehensive package of training that will enable them to establish and run their business. There will also be monthly continuing fees throughout the term of the relationship. For this the franchisor will provide ongoing support, guidance and research and development to ensure the franchisee is successful.”
What makes Extra Help a ‘lifestyle’ franchise?
With a simple, easy-to replicate business model, low entry and monthly fees and a unique, ‘family-like’ ethos, Extra Help, the home-help and cleaning franchise, is the ideal choice for kind and caring people who genuinely love to help others. It’s a management franchise, so your job as a franchisee is to find your clients and match them to suitable home-helpers. Home-helpers are self-employed, so there’s no PAYE or National Insurance to manage, leaving you free to focus on building your business and looking after your client base.
Extra Help is a flexible business you can grow at your own pace, from running it as a sideline, to earning more than £70,000 per year like several of our franchisees. If you’re looking to invest in an award-winning franchise, with a proven business model and all the support you need, Extra Help could be the right choice for you!
