The EF100 returns: Industry league table from Elite Franchise is back for year two

Having experienced an incredible amount of interest and success for its debut year, the EF100 returns to highlight the top 100 franchises Britain has to offer

There’s no denying the omnipotence of the UK franchising sector. Not only has the bfa highlighted the £15.1bn contribution* the market makes to the nation’s economy, the sum is the result of a 46% growth over ten years, which suggests the future only looks even brighter.

Of course, Elite Franchise couldn’t be more thrilled with the industry’s exciting rise. It’s revealed no end of entrepreneurial talent as networks are built around everything from food to finance, housekeeping to healthcare and in-between. And that’s precisely why the Elite Franchise 100 is back.

With an incredible debut ranking of the top 100 franchises last year and the marketplace only developing further with fresh faces, Britain’s definitive league table is flying the flag for franchising finesse as it returns for its second outing. Franchisors small and large will be celebrated with our combined audience of 15,000 print subscribers and digital network of over 250,000 readers.

With everything from support to innovation taken into account by our prestigious judging panel, which last year included the likes Ben Burcham, director at Franchise Supermarket, and Nicola Stevens, partner and head of franchising at law firm Stevens & Bolton, the criteria to be considered includes:

  1. Longevity – The age of the franchise and its longevity in the marketplace.
  2.  Financial – The network’s most recent turnover and profit for the last three financial years.
  3. Network size – The number of franchisees the network currently has in the UK.
  4. Growth – The franchise’s year-on-year growth both in terms of turnover and franchise network size
  5. Contribution – The contribution your franchise makes to the community, inclusive of local and national initiatives and within the sector as a whole.
  6. Support – The comprehensive and ongoing training and support franchises provide to those in their network.
  7. Innovation – How a franchise is using new technologies, developing new products and setting itself apart from other brands in the market.
  8. Future – The franchises with the most ambitious but realistic plans for the future.

Zen Terrelonge, editor of Elite Franchise, said: “At Elite Franchise, we’re often spoilt for choice when it comes to highlighting the country’s vibrant franchises. With the EF100 2019, these buzzing British businesses have the chance to highlight themselves in their own voice and earn the recognition they deserve.”
With Lloyds Banking Group having supported the EF100 2018, judge and head of franchising at the bank, Richard Holden, said: “Lloyds Banking Group are proud to be backing the EF100 as it could be used as a valuable research tool for would be franchise investors helping them make informed decisions about the varied options available to them. Any publication that promotes the best the sector has to offer supports improved investor awareness which must be good for UK franchising.”

Formally announced on Friday 7th December 2018, the winners of the Elite Franchise 100 will be gathered together both in a high-quality printed publication and in our annual online rankings.
