myTiptApp, designed by the team at Trustist, improves the way businesses collect and distribute tips
myTiptApp is a new product! Designed by the team at Trustist to improve the way that hospitality businesses collect tips and distribute them to their staff. myTiptApp utilises the same technology as TrustistTransfer which means businesses can simplify their tipping process using just a smartphone.
Using the app, serving staff can request tips from their customers via a QR code. Once the customer has scanned the QR code, they’re taken through the steps to make the tip payment on their own phone via Open Banking which ensures a 100% secure transaction. The use of Open Banking technology protects the customer and the business, allowing the payment to be authorised by the customer via Face ID or fingerprint recognition.
As the staff continue to collect tips throughout the shift, they are added into the overall shift balance. At the end of the day, the balance is split between all staff members and paid out to their virtual bank accounts. We issue the staff with a virtual debit card which is stored in their Google/Apple pay wallet – this card can then be used in the same way as any other virtual payment card.
The sharing functionality allows the entire team involved to benefit from the tips collected. That means that at the end of the day, when the tips are split between the designated number of beneficiaries, it isn’t only the service staff who collected the tips who get to take them home, but also the kitchen staff, bar staff or any other staff member.
SRPs:
The newest feature soon to be launched on the existing TrustistTransfer and TrustistEcommerce platforms is the introduction of Static Recurring Payments (SRPs). SRPs, sometimes referred to as Standing Orders, allow businesses to set up a repeating payment from their customer. These types of payments are often used for subscriptions, payment plans or class/session bookings. It removes friction in the payment process and eliminates the hassle of setting up a new beneficiary for Standing Orders or the complication and expense of Direct Debits.
The SRP functionality for TrustistTransfer and TrustistEcommerce makes it even easier to create such payments, all within the existing dashboard. All a merchant has to do is enter the details of the SRP, such as the customer name, the amount of each payment, a description, the desired frequency of the payments and, where applicable, the number of payments that should be taken, then show their customer the QR code that is generated or send them the associated PayLink.
Once the customer scans the QR code or clicks on the PayLink, they will be shown the details of the SRP and invited to continue through the process using Open Banking to select the bank account they wish to schedule the payments from. Then, all they have to do is authorise the payments using Face ID or fingerprint recognition and they’re done!
Not only is this process incredibly simple for both parties, the process is improved further with the ability to create payment presets within their dashboard. This means they can create a template for each of their regularly used SRP types which can be used for quicker set up of SRPs in the future. For example, a gym with a membership of £100 per month could have ‘£100 monthly’ as a pre-set payment type.
