We will teach you everything you need to know to run your own Damp Detectives franchise. This will include all the technical aspects of running a damp surveying business as well as how to generate business in your local area. You should be able to recover your investment in just 12 months. Several of our franchisees have done this in 4 months.
Damp Detectives was started by Robert Horne in 2009 and is now a group of independent damp surveyors. We provide mould and damp surveys for landlords and housing agencies as well as offering surveys for individual properties. Robert is a member of the Property Care Association.

As a Damp Detectives franchisee, you will have the opportunity to build a successful business with the training, support and experience of an established business behind you. We have a proven formula which will form the basis on which your franchise operates.
The earning potential for a Damp Detectives franchisee is enormous. New franchisees have been able to earn £50K in their first year. Detail of how your earnings increase can be seen in the earning potential section of this prospectus.
Each franchisee is given an exclusive large territory to work within. This means that only you can operate and market within your chosen area enabling you to generate up to £100,000 and beyond.
Ongoing comprehensive training and support will be given to franchisees which combine on the job and office based training.
You will have dedicated support directly from the people who have successfully built the business. There are regular group meetings to continue training and networking. Quarterly news showing interesting surveys and techniques. A dedicated webpage for you as a technical library explaining all kinds of topics on damp surveys. There is always someone on the end of a phone who can answer any questions. Individual franchisees have developed their own areas of expertise which they happily share.
The initial training will be done as distance learning over the internet to establish core principles in small chunks. Having understood the principles we then move onto a week of classroom training taking in instruments, the procedure for surveys, pricing etc.
Once you have had your initial training from Damp Detectives it doesn’t stop there. Ongoing bespoke training is available to you if you want more advanced training or just some refresher training to go over anything again. We feel that our training, support and backup are key features of our franchise.
Damp Detectives also provides comprehensive telephone and e-mail support. This ensures you are never left on your own and support is available whenever you need it.
The charge for an average survey is £350 and takes 2-3 hours to complete. If a report is required, then this could take a further 2-3 hours to complete but would be an additional charge.
Charges are dependent upon the size of the property. Additional work will be charged extra to the survey fee.
If you are buying a new area, within the first few weeks of training you would have enough enquiries to give you at least 2 surveys per week.
Within a few months you could be averaging 4 surveys a week. This could give you £1400 per week for 2 days work. There is no upper limit to your earnings, that is up to you.
