"You won't regret it" - Lakeland franchisee shares the secret to success
Philip Short recently shared some interesting insights into the early success of his Lakeland Verandahs franchise in East Anglia.
He opened the franchise with Callum Collins-Butterton in March 2021 and has not looked back since.
Philip stated: “We have just taken an order from our 55th customer of the year, just 9 months after we started.”
With customer demand being there since day one, Philip credits Lakeland Verandahs’ sustainable products to the high amount of interest he has received, which is something he is very passionate about.
“Lakeland Verandahs have tried and tested, eco-friendly products to make use of, which we fit to the best standards.”
He believes that Lakeland Verandahs’ constant developments and innovative products poses an exciting opportunity for both potential franchisees hoping to grow a business, and for customers wanting to improve their homes.
Philip understands that Lakeland Verandahs’ eco-friendly, maintenance-free and weather-proof products play a big part in drumming up business, but the importance of good customer service is also key to establishing a strong brand, as word spreads fast.
“People want a company they can trust and that cares. By coming to my franchise, customers can be comfortable knowing they will be looked after, both before and after the installation has taken place.”
Philip is no stranger to dealing with people as his background is mostly in service and sales roles. He is able to combine his people-facing skills with his business partner’s experience in the construction industry.
Extending some advice to those considering opening a Lakeland Verandahs franchise, Philip offered words of encouragement: “Keep working hard, keep the customers happy and you won't regret it.”
As for the support he has received, Philip has been in regular contact with Lakeland Verandahs with many meetings and phone calls.
Philip shared that Lakeland Verandahs have been particularly useful in issuing him with technical assistance and providing help acquiring certain materials he needed to get many jobs completed.
With many businesses currently experiencing shortages of materials, often cited as a combined result of both Brexit and the pandemic, Lakeland’s connections and expertise have made a big difference to the East Anglia franchise.
“It would be impossible to get hold of certain materials if we were to try this venture without their support,” Philip reflected.
Philip also commented on the marketing efforts of Lakeland Verandahs, expressing his appreciation for the regular flow of promising leads.
“The marketing is wonderful and has been providing a high amount of good quality leads throughout the year, including marketing campaigns locally and nationwide.”
Philip added: “It's safe to say we could not have done this without them.”
