Tutor Doctor welcomes six new franchisees

In the last two months, six ambitious entrepreneurs have launched their Tutor Doctor franchises across the UK. Chin Hui, Rachael Tan, Matt Fowler, Sally Lingard, Adebusola Oladimeji and Akudo Elaine Ike will be serving families from Bromley to Bristol. Their aim is to empower students to achieve their full potential and bring work to local tutors with a business that truly sits at the heart of their communities.

Undoubtedly, Tutor Doctor’s ethos of making a real difference in people’s lives is a huge draw for professionals from all walks of life. But so too is the opportunity to build a profitable, scalable business for the long-term. This powerful mix of personal satisfaction and financial rewards has seen the UK network double in size in the last five years.

“In Tutor Doctor, I saw the chance to provide a service, through an internationally proven system and brand, that currently isn’t being provided in the local area,” says 33-year-old Matt Fowler. “I was also looking for a business that would be scalable over time, giving me the opportunity to make choices about how I operate i.e. remain as an Owner Operator or step away from the day-to-day and act purely as a Director.”

A former fitness industry professional, Matt launched his franchise in Coventry at the end of March. Having previously worked at a senior management level, he’s one of many franchisees in the network under the age of 35 whose passion for growth and ambition to succeed under their own steam has led them to the Tutor Doctor brand.

“Despite having a good career, I’ve always wanted to be my own boss. The Tutor Doctor business model and the company values were closely aligned to where I was coming from personally and I felt comfortable that I could bring a high number of transferable skills to the table. You don’t have to choose between making a profit and making a difference with this business, you can do both. I’ve created an internal vision to support 1,500 students by the end of 2021 – yes it’s ambitious, but why be anything else?”

With over 500 franchise units in more than 16 countries, Tutor Doctor is one of the fastest growing home-tutoring franchise in the world. Out of all global territories, the UK has shown the fastest growth in like-for-like sales since Alex Scotchbrook opened the very first UK Tutor Doctor in 2009. And, if you’re interested in how Alex is doing now – she recently ranked 2nd for top performing franchisee worldwide!

“2018 has already been a big year for us; we’ve unveiled our new branding, published our first book, introduced a revolutionary online learning platform to our model and further expanded our reach across the globe. For franchisees in the UK, these things not only cement our place as a global market leader, they enable us to offer even greater support for franchisees at a local, grass-roots level. As the franchise continues to grow, so do our support teams at head office and out in the field,” explains Tim Morris, Director of Global Franchise Support.
