Tim Haigh, Right at Home UK
Sutton & Epsom Franchisee
Tim Haigh was vital to the Right at Home franchise development, as he became their inaugural franchisee for the United Kingdom. This feat presented further determination for him to make a success of his purchased territory. Thirty-six months into operating his franchise territory and the hard work is paying dividends – with his Franchise care home’s reputation established within his Sutton and Epsom territory. Tim is currently billing over 1,000 hours a week and is witnessing an annual turnover that has exceeded £1,000,000.
The former Head of Communications at a UK publishing company decided to research franchises that met his criteria through the British Franchise Association, looking at numerous options that led him to the Right at Home Franchise Opportunity.
“The Care sector held a particular appeal because I’d always had a strong internal drive to help people and there is an obvious and huge potential to grow a successful home care business in the UK right now,” says Tim.
“I’ve also no doubt that Right at Home is going to be the UK’s leading home care franchise within the next 5 to 10 years – and I want to be part of that success.”
Tim admits that running his own successful franchise hasn’t come without it’s downs, especially when his registered manager had to unfortunately hand in his notice for personal reasons.
Tim recalls, “The Franchise Head Office really stepped up their Franchise support throughout the period of re-recruiting and I was more than satisfied with the franchise operational training I’d received that allowed me to take over the role on a short term basis. My new manager is now established and is performing at a high level that helps the franchise business move forward and achieve new clients.”
Tim first met the UK Master Franchisor Ken Deary, who himself was a former bfa Franchisee of the year with a well-known fast food franchise, and was more than impress by his track record, passion for the business and determination to help all of his franchisees succeed.
Tim says: “I have a very good relationship with Ken and, indeed, all of the Right at Home Franchising team at the head office. They are very knowledgeable and passionate about care and franchising.
Tim commented on where he foresees his business once his 10-year franchise agreement concludes.
“Hopefully as the most admired and referred to care company in South West London and Surrey,” he says. “I want to be generating revenue of about £2 million a year and operating over a double franchise territory, while supporting adults with various home care needs through a wide range of services.”
Tim had his say on what advice he would offer to any budding entrepreneur seeking to buy a Franchise.
“Do your franchise research, talk to people involved in the franchise sector and attend franchise seminars and franchise exhibitions.
“Above all, don’t make the impulsive leap unless you are truly sure you have the will and determination to succeed and, vitally, ensue you have the full support of your family.”
