The Massage Company continues ambitious UK category growth
The Massage Company™ (TMC) continues its exciting and ambitious UK category growth with the appointment of CG Funk a 25-year veteran of the massage and spa industries as a consultant adviser to its Board of Directors.
CG brings experience from many roles, executive leadership, massage training school administration, massage business owner, and inspirational global speaker and teacher.
CG is the former Vice President of Product Development for US based massage franchise Massage Envy. She played a key role in the growth and expansion of the brand from 30 franchised locations to over 1,100. She quotes: "I have much respect for The Massage Company™'s focus on combined growth and quality. Launching a business that creates a new market in the UK is an amazing feat. I'm impressed with how they have applied effective logic to their operations and how they are focused on both sales and training as top priorities.
"In addition, The Massage Company™ has developed a unique and forward-thinking approach to their Board of Directors organizational structure which positions the company for rapid growth ahead of the curve. I'm pleased to be joining this team and, together, we are focusing on a number of projects to facilitate franchise sales growth in the UK as well as building sound systems for franchisee training and support."
The Massage Company™ is the first massage franchise business worldwide outside of the US, opening the first store in Camberley in March 2016, winning three Best New Business Awards in the first 12 months, and has awarded 3 franchise territories to be opening soon.
Founder Elliot Walker, responsible for franchising said:
"CG has unique knowledge and deep experience on franchising systems and structure. She has received many accolades throughout her career including induction into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame, recipient of the One Concept Lifetime Achievement Award and recognized as a Valued Partner by the Federation of State Massage Boards. CG co-chairs the Massage Makes Me Happy Initiative for the Global Wellness Institute and is a Delegate for the Global Wellness Summit."
Fellow Founder & Operations Director Charlie Thompson, also the Chairman of the UK Spa Association, added:
"We are so pleased to have CG join our board and know her contributions will support The Massage Company™ on delivering consistently high-quality operating standards as the business expands. Her knowledge of the massage, spa and franchise industries will help guide us towards future opportunities and help us navigate potential business challenges.
"An important goal for The Massage Company™ is to maintain constant focus on attracting and retaining high quality massage therapists like we have over our first 18 months in operations. CG is an expert on building and executing recruiting strategies along with developing employee professional growth and culture programs."
When asked about the businesses potential in the UK, Walker says:
"The Massage Company™ was created as a franchise business model. We know our investments to date will continue to reap dividends for the company and our franchisees. Our technology, our processes and our procedures have all been developed to be a truly integrated tech supported business from day one.
"In addition to supporting franchisees in all aspects of building, opening and operating their business locations, we are also dedicated to ensuring that The Massage Company™ members and customers will always experience a great quality massage. One of the key factors in this is our exclusive and proprietary Training Academy developed by UK Massage Industry expert and fellow board member John Holman."
Thompson adds:
"We are building our team with great people and experts from around the world. CG Funk joins John Holman, Claire Robilliard, Andy McEwan and the fabulous team based in Camberley. We're investing now for the long-term success of The Massage Company™."
