The hospitality sector is back with a bang, so how can you look to get in on the action with franchising?

With pubs, restaurants, cinemas and other establishments in the hospitality sector all being closed at some point over the last 15 months, things are beginning to open and stay that way. With that in mind, we look at some ways that you could become a franchise owner and get involved in the profits that come with it.

The last year has seen us all completing Netflix, take up running and then subsequently give up running, become Mary Berry and then just buy a Tesco’s own instead. What I am getting at is that we have all been cooped up for too long without being able to get out and kick back and enjoy ourselves.

However, we can now rejoice at the fact that we can attend at restaurant and get someone else to cook for us. Someone else to serve us drinks. We can meet up with friends and relax in the Summer Sun (this is still pending). The hospitality sector is open, and we are ecstatic to see it.

The hospitality sector equates for 10% of the UK's total employment, 6% of businesses and 5% of the GDP. That is huge. But they have taken a huge hit over the past year with COVID and lockdowns mandating compulsory lockdowns. So, the UK as a nation have taken it upon themselves to ensure that the revival of this industry and not only will it survive, but it will prosper once again.

How does franchising come in you ask? Well now is the time to seek out these opportunities in the sector whether that be by running your own café, restaurant, take-away or the services behind the scenes.

The ‘eatout-to-helpout’ scheme in in August was attended by a whopping 52% of consumers. Now that the pandemic is under control with vaccines and public health more prepared, people are going to be frequenting restaurants more regularly. Franchises such as KoKoDoo, Ahisma Vegan Cafe and Cafe Lutz are able to open their doors and serve customers again.  Pubs are now allowing you to sit inside to escape the rain and cold that we seem to be getting despite knocking on June’s door. Takeaways such as Papa John's are there to provide the ease of ordering in from the comfort of your own home.

One franchise that is certainly looking to thrive is Clear Brew, who are the beer line cleaning professionals. All those pubs who have been so desperately awaiting to serve their customers again would have had their pumps cleaned, due to them been sitting around collecting dust and not being used in months. Clear Brew is a franchise opportunity that allows you to go behind the scenes of the hospitality sector and still get rewarded for you hard work. Picture yourselves as being Father Christmas’ elves.

We spoke to Clear Brew and their franchisees from our neck of the woods, Stan & Christine of Clear Brew Norwich had this to say – “During the pandemic we all missed social interaction, and since our clients are our favourite part of the job, since reopening we’ve loved getting to re connect. It feels so hopeful because people just want to come together and share a beer.”
