Driver Hire Grimsby hoping to catch community award
Fingers will be firmly crossed at Driver Hire’s Grimsby & Scunthorpe office. Franchisees Michael and Jayne O’Flynn are in the finals – for the second year running – of the Hull & Northern Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce ‘Excellence in the Community’ Business Awards. The award is sponsored by ferry operator, DFDS.
Michael and Jayne attracted the judges’ attention because of their ongoing commitment to the community in which they operate. Over the past two years, Michael and Jayne have organised prestigious fund-raisers and sponsored community events. Their 2017 annual golf day raised £5,500. They are planning to raise the bar even higher at this year’s event by taking the total to £10,000. The money raised goes to support the work of children’s charity, ‘When you wish upon a star’.
They also support local school, ‘Havelock Academy’ and were a sponsor of the ‘Golden Apples’ education awards. Jayne, who is the current WWW Grimsby ‘Business Woman of the Year’, has delivered a number of inspirational talks and shared business insight with Havelock Academy students.
Commenting on their nomination, Jayne said: “Community engagement is an important element of our business. It’s nice to be able to help where we can and have a positive impact. So, win or lose, this nomination is a pleasing recognition of the hard work we put into our community programme.”
Leading franchisor, Driver Hire, is one of the UK’s largest specialist suppliers of temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to local and national organisations in both the public and private sector. If they’re short of staff – perhaps because of illness, holidays or seasonal demand – Driver Hire will supply them with a suitable replacement.
The winners will be announced at a gala evening held at the Grimsby Auditorium on Friday 18th May.
